First Missional Baptist Church
The word missional
was first coined in the early 1990s. It describes a way of thinking
about being church.
Being missional means more
than being mission-minded. Mission-minded churches have thought of
themselves as sending and supporting the missionaries. In this
case, missions is representative. The missionaries on the mission
field represent the rest of the church who is at home praying and
giving. Missions-minded churches have a missions program in their
church.
Being missional includes all of
this and more.
-
Missional churches not only send and
support but also emphasize being and doing. In a
missional church, every member is a missionary.
-
Missional churches think of missions as
participative instead of representative.
-
Missional churches
think of missions as
the essence of the church not just one of the programs.
This page describes some of the
ways we are attempting to live out our missional lifestyle.

Community Food Pantry
The First Baptist Church of
Frankston is an active supporter of the area food pantry located in
Noonday. Church volunteers assist in providing food to the needy
through pantry stocking, food transporting, product distribution and
board participation. Additionally, the church provides funding
through the giving of its members, as well as collection of aluminum
cans for recycling.

participates in The Angel Tree Prison Fellowship Ministries. This
ministry provides food, clothing, and toys for families with
children where either their mom or dad (sometimes both) are in
prison.

Nursing Home Church Services
The first Sunday of each month First Baptist leads
worship at The Frankston Nursing Home. There is a time of singing
followed by a devotional. This service is open to the public and we
encourage our members to participate in sharing a time of fellowship
with those who are unable to attend our regular church services.

Operation Christmas Child brings
joy and hope to children in desperate situations around the world
through gift-filled shoe boxes and the Good News of God’s love.
This program of Samaritan’s
Purse provides an opportunity for people of all ages to be involved
in a simple, hands-on mission’s project while focusing on the true
meaning of Christmas—Jesus Christ, God’s greatest gift. Along with
shoe box gifts, millions of children are given Gospel booklets in
their own language.
This mission has become a
favorite among our church and one we look forward to continuing each
year.
